Powder Monkey

Powder Monkey – the Original Monkey! Named for the young boys who use to run the gunpowder to the guns on the ships and down in the mines,
Powder Monkeys were associated with explosives. Therein lies the joke. Powder Monkey is most definitely not explosive.
Allie purchased Monks in 1998 as an unbroken 2yr old. He is the heart and soul of the business.
He is now competing Medium level dressage, started at Advanced and is Allies best asset in teaching as he tells exactly what he feels with every student.
A fantastic teacher indeed. Monkey is half Cleveland Bay, half TB.
The Cleveland of course is a very dominate breed, and most of his characteristics are from his dad, Wetherby Barry Crump.
Allie jokes she fully imported Monkey from overseas – Tasmania.

Chunky Monkey

Or, as he is known to us, Casper - very friendly but much more solid than your average ghost!!
Casper is a seven year old Purebred (but unregistered) Clydesdale gelding, 18 hands and weighing in at about a ton.
Richard fell in love and purchased him in mid-2006.
He is broken to harness and chain work.
Richard is filing off the corners on his 'round-tuit' and getting ready to put him to use in our sulky.
Richard and Casper together are currnetly learning how to ride / be ridden and all the nuances of that (it is a LONG way up there!)

Toadally Monkey

Now proudly renamed Magic Monkey, because, as Jayne says, he is just Magic. Toad is a 10 yr old TB we purchased during the middle of the EI crisis. To take on the challenge of moving a horse in the height of the EI crisis, you know we must have been impressed with this lad. He had run into a situation where he was totally at a loss of how to communicate to the people around him. By the time we took him on, his trust in humans had been shattered, and our work was mostly in rebuilding his joy in working with humans. Toad has now found a home with one of our clients, Jayne, who is going to event and dressage him. Toad follows Jayne like a puppy, watching Jayne’s every move with great love. To have the privilege to help this horse was the highlight of 2008. And to see him find a home of love, even better.

Night Monkey

Our newest edition. We think she is about 8 or 9. When summer comes, we can check her brand on the web. She is black of course, about 15hh high, and a very loving nature. She was left in the paddock without enough attention for  a couple of years, but now is leaping into her new life with great cheer. Allie broke two of her prejudices to take her on – she is a mare, and she is standard bred. However, her lovely nature and nice looks meant she won her way into our hearts.

Cheeky Monkey

the cutey of the bunch and knows it well and truly. His best friend is Chunky Monkey, Casper. To watch the two of them around the paddock walking in sync, with Cheeky copying Casper’s every move is so funny. Cheeky takes full advantage of protection from his mate – he goes and nips Monks, then ducks back behind Casper to make sure he is safe. At 11hh, and just about 4 yrs old, Cheeky is ready to go out in the world. He is now being used in lessons. With a few Pony club rallies under his belt, he is going to be one of those ponies that are just treasured by mothers. On top of that, his dad is one of the Royal Easter show champions – in harness. Cheeky has done preliminary harness work, and has the looks, breeding and class to excel in this field too. He is APSB, not registered at this stage but can be if needed.

Spider Monkey

oh boy. Class. A horse that dreams are built on. A Cleveland Bay cousin of Monkey, but with ¾ TB, Spider is awesome. Allie has been told she has to get Mac to Medium by the time he is ten. Truly, he has the ability for it. At PMB we believe that if you give your horse an extra year at the start of their career, you get an extra 5 years of quality work at the end. So Mac has been brought on gently to start, but watch out. He is now is full work and he is good.
